Southeast Asia to host its first Star Wars virtual run on May the 4th. Here's why it's special.

It’s that time of the year again.

That’s right, the time where Star Wars fans unite to say “May the Force be with you.”

But this time, there’s an added feature.

Southeast Asia will be hosting its very first Star Wars Virtual Run 2020 and it all begins on, you guessed it, May the 4th.

The run will also be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Runners will get to choose to pledge their allegiance to one of the two sides: the Light Side or the Dark Side.

As per the title, the runs can take place anywhere, anytime.

From your neighborhood park to the gym threadmill, all runners are welcomed. Runners can also opt to run solo or with a friend to complete the two distance categories: 5.4km and 40km.

And what do you get if you clock the distance?

The prizes? Exclusive 3D-engraved trophies of either BB-8 or the First Order Stormtrooper depending on which team you join. Runners who complete the challenge will get the trophies mailed to them after the virtual run ends.

If you’re a huge Star Wars fan and you participate and complete the 40km distance category, you’ll also receive a shiny, gold Darth Vader 40th Anniversary The Empire Strikes Back trophy.

Participating Southeast Asian countries include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

To join, register at Star Wars Virtual Run SEA.

Registration fees cost US$25 for the 5.4km category and US$40 for the 40km category. Both prices include shipping costs for the trophies.

So what are you waiting for? Run for your team today!
