Grandad Marathon gains certification, can be used as major race qualifier News8000.com – WKBT
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Runners who will take part in an area marathon will be able to use the race to qualify for major competitions like the Boston Marathon.
The Festival Foods Grandad Marathon is now recognized as a USATF Certified Course. That means the course distance is measured accurately and maintained through certain standards.
Organizers for the local race started taking the steps toward certification this fall, according to a Facebook post. The addition of a full marathon was announced in September.
Registration is already open for the next marathon, half-marathon,5k run/walk and kids races. They will take place on May 9.
