Jessica Gallagher, Paralympic alpine skier, track and field athlete and tandem cyclistVictorians of every age and ability are being encouraged to lace up their runners to boost their health and fitness in the 2020 Premier’s Active April challenge.

Last year, a record 130,211 Victorians participated in Active April, with 1761 Victorian schools and 854 Victorian workplaces registered as teams and exercising daily by walking to school, riding to work or visiting the gym during their lunch break.

Registration for Premier’s Active April is free and everyone who signs up will receive 10 free YMCA visit passes and a host of freebies and incentives to help them “find their gold” in their local area.

Registrations are now officially open and all Victorians are encouraged to commit to 30 minutes of physical activity a day during April.

A team of Premier’s Active April ambassadors has been assembled to inspire people including footballers Bachar Houli (Richmond) and Emma Kearney (North Melbourne), Paralympian Jessica Gallagher, Olympic middle-distance runner Peter Bol, University professor Amanda Benson and Tom and Captain from Dog Walking Adventures.

Participants can track daily activity straight from Fitbit devices to the Premier’s Active April website and app. Alternatively, participants can manually log activity.

Participants this year will also have access to the ‘Get Active Workouts’ video series through the app, which features 30 different 10-minute workout ideas to inspire and motivate participants.
