BRIDGWATER and District Road And Trail runners (BADRAT) celebrated a successful stampede run in Stoke last week.
The group had seven runners out at the event on Sunday, January 9 as well as some lovely support from runners’ families.
Haidee Pine finished 155th in 53mins11secs; Bjorn Edney 35th in 41mins54secs; Kerry Howell 167th in 54mins06secs; Kathryn Long 217th in 58mins34secs; Tilly Arden 220th in 58mins54secs; Suzy Hill-King 272nd in 1hr0mins3secs; Nick Sanders 8th in 36mins28secs.
Mr Sanders, the founder of the group, was pleased with the results and said: “It was a great result from such a young club, and really shouts what we are all about which is being somewhere everyone can enjoy a run, welcoming and supportive.
“We were really excited to be able to turn out such a good number of club members representing such an awesome cross-section of club ability.
“The group started in April 2020, right in the early days of the first lockdown as Bjorn and I had time to think more about running and the potential of sharing our joy of it with others.
“We currently have 63 members and counting, having started with just a concept, logo and some social media posts, and of course no ability to formally run together for some time at the outset.
“We became an England Athletics Affiliated club in October 2020 and have a growing group of formally trained run leaders, with our first coach completing training this February.
“We offer not just a running club but a community, with loads of positive posts, support, and benefits for members, including discounts with leading running stores, brands, local businesses (such as North Petherton RFC Gym) and local event companies, including the very local Channel Events Group.”
