500 Festival 6-Miler training race set for Saturday  WTHR

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – The 500 Festival’s 6-Miler is set for Saturday morning, starting and finishing at PanAm Plaza downtown along a route that passes Garfield Park.

The 6-Miler is the second of the three race Miler Series, presented by OrthoIndy, and starts at 9 a.m.

The races are designed and scheduled to coincide with a typical training program geared toward a spring distance race – in this case, the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon on May 2, 2020. But runners don’t have to be registered for the Mini-Marathon to participate in the miler races.

The Miler Series allows runners to gauge their training progression and race day strategy.

There are mile markers, clocks, split timers and water along the course that heads south on Illinois Street and Madison Avenue out of downtown, then over to Garfield Park along Pleasant Run Parkway North Drive before turning on Barth Avenue near Interstate 65. Runners return to PanAm Plaza by heading north on East Street, west on Morris Street and north on Meridian and Illinois Street.

Drivers should expect travel restrictions along the route between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Runners can still register Saturday morning at PanAm Plaza beginning at 7:30 a.m.
