Sneakers are an essential part of any wardrobe, whether you swear by your trusty Nikes or buy into the trendy Allbirds. Some people have one pair of sneakers for every activity, and others are self-proclaimed sneakerheads, wearing a different set depending on the day. When shopping for a new pair of sneakers, most people are looking for comfort, durability and often style. Other design aspects like material, outsoles and stability engineering may matter too, especially to runners.

Whether you’re looking for a shoe to help you race and perform or just get you from Point A to Point B, you can find a worthy sneaker from Amazon—even from top brands like Nike, Brooks, On Running and Asics. We’ve rounded up 15 pairs of sneakers with thousands of reviews from our favorite brands you can shop right now at Amazon.
1. Brooks Ghost 13
The Brooks Ghost 13 sneaker is popular and sets the bar high—so high that the shoe was mentioned in reviews for several other shoes on this list! These sneakers claim to withstand training for long races, unexpected rainstorms and tough wear. Design-wise, the shoes are lightweight but durable with a “Segmented Crash Pad” to absorb shock and high cushioning. The Ghost 13 is a certified PDAC A5500 Diabetic shoe and has a Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association.
2. On Running Cloud Sneakers
On Running’s popular shoes have a noticeable sole made of a series of rubber sections across the bottom of the shoe to help with absorbing the shock of each stride. The sneakers can have typical laces that you can tighten or a no-tie lace option. Reviewers say this pair feels like walking on clouds as well as “the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned.”
3. Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 36
Nike has always been a popular brand for athletic footwear, and our labs deemed this particular pair the best pair of running shoes you can buy. The Air Zoom Pegasus 36 is a streamlined running shoe that is great for short and long distances. Reviewers note that the shoes work well for thin to normal feet and that the insoles are great. The style also comes in over two dozen colors if you’re looking for colorful options or need to match a uniform.
4. Cloudfoam Pure Running Shoe
The Cloudfoam Pure sneaker from Adidas is built for walking and running. The upper portion of the shoe is made from a breathable mesh that claims to keep your feet cool, and it’s also flexible so the shoe has an almost sock-like fit. The Cloudfoam technology offers cushion and comfort with every step, whether you’re running laps or walking your dog.
5. New Balance 520 V7 Running Shoe
New Balances are cool again. The 520 V7 Running Shoe has a comfortable midsole and rubber outsole that claims to provide traction and durability. The sneakers also feature molding and underfoot stability features to keep your stride balanced. Reviewers like this pair for many reasons. One says, “I’m 72 and walk 2 miles every morning at a pretty fast pace. I need a shoe that will keep up with me and, so far, these have done the job.” Another reviewer notes, “I have bunions and I have a very hard time finding sneakers that are comfortable. The mesh does NOT have areas that rub against the bunions causing pain. I can wear them all day at work without any problems.”
6. Under Armour Charged Assert 9
Under Armour’s Charged Assert 9 sneaker is unassuming and claims to be ultra-durable. The shoe’s mesh upper provides breathability while synthetical overlays keep your foot in place. Reviewers say this shoe is great for people who are on their feet for hours; one delivery worker reports they work in “all weather conditions, doing heavy lifting, pushing and pulling hand trucks, climbing in and out of the vehicle with non-slip steel flooring. I need lightweight and durable shoes, and for the price, these are some quality shoes.”
7. STQ Running Shoes
The STQ Running Shoes have over 19,000 reviews on Amazon. The sneakers are air-cushioned running sneakers with a lightweight upper and slip-resistant soles. According to reviewers, the shoes fit true to size and work well for those with wide feet, allowing space in the toe box and enough room for insoles or orthotic pads. STQ’s running shoes are also comparatively affordable to other shoes on this list if you’re shopping on a budget or just need an extra pair in your rotation.

8. Asics Gel-Contend 7 Running Shoe
Asics is another popular sneaker brand, and I currently race in a pair of Asics myself. The Gel-Content 7 sneaker has a cushioned foam sole and GEL Technology for effective shock absorption. The grooves on the outside of the sole allow for flexibility without sacrificing support. One reviewer wore a pair to Disney World and said the shoes didn’t cause blisters, dried quickly after rain, felt lightweight and had amazing support.
9. Saucony Cohesion 13 Running Shoe
The Cohesion 13 sneaker is a favorite among people with foot pain. Reviewers report: “I have narrow feet and struggle with plantar fasciitis. For whatever reason, these are the only athletic shoes I have found that fit my feet well that also lessen my plantar fasciitis pain.” Another reviewer says, “I’ve been buying from this brand when I injured my foot working. I have stayed dedicated to these shoes because they are the only ones at this price that provide built-in arch support, comfort and affordability.” The shoes feature breathable mesh, a durable rubber sole, cushioning and most “wide” sizes.
10. Brooks Adrenaline GTS 22 Running Shoe
Brooks is a trusted brand when it comes to running gear, and sneakers by the company stand up well to long runs and training sessions; my last pair of half marathon sneakers were from Brooks! The Adrenaline GTS 22 Running Shoe is supportive, lightweight, and cushiony for a smooth run. Some reviewers note that these are great sneakers for non-runners too: “Perfect for on your feet in the ER or OR constantly standing and moving on your feet. Good heel and arch support, very breathable and nice padded tongue.”
11. Asics Men’s Frequent Trail Running Shoes
Not all sneakers are equal, and trail running requires a certain set of sneaker features to keep you upright and without pain. The Asics Men’s Frequent Trail Running Shoes fit the bill. They have a reversed lug outsole (there are outward-facing pieces on the bottoms of the shoes) that will give you traction while going uphill, downhill or on flat trails. Like many sneakers, mesh material provides airflow, but this shoe’s tight weave mesh does so without allowing mud and dirt in.
12. Adidas Puremotion Adapt Running Shoe
The Puremotion Adapt Running shoes from Adidas are slip-on sneakers with no laces. The sneakers come in over a dozen colorways and are perfect for slipping on quickly. The shoes have foam cushioning, a sock-like feel, and a synthetic outsole that keeps the shoes feeling lightweight. Since many colors of the sneaker have white outsoles, I’d think twice about wearing them on muddy days, but otherwise, these make a great everyday sneaker for runners and nonrunners alike.
13. Adidas Ultraboost 21 Running Shoe
The Ultraboost sneakers from Adidas are aptly named. The shoes have a substantial foam cushion that claims to make running smoother and easier on the joints. The sneakers also have an Adidas-specific torsion system that is designed in an “H” shape and is attached to the outsole and will “provide a 15% increase in forefoot bending stiffness, giving you a more responsive stride.”
14. Damyuan Men’s Sport Shoes
The Men’s Sport Shoes from Damyuan are monochromatic and sleek, so if you want a single-color shoe this is your best bet. The sneakers are breathable and non-slip, and are fit for all sorts of activities including traveling, walking, working out and running errands. Reviewers say the shoes are lightweight, supportive and comfortable even after long days on your feet.
15. Joomra Whitin Supportive Running Shoes
[The Joomra Whitin Running Shoes come with reflective accents for nighttime running.]
The Joomra Whitin Supportive Running Shoes have everything a beginning or seasoned runner would need: a structured knit upper, lace-up closure, foamy midsole, rubber outsole with added traction, and a platform design that allows for a more natural heel to toe stride. These sneakers are supportive and comfortable for runs and workouts, even for those with high arches. Reviewers also “dig the reflective accents that show when the light is on,” which can help with runner visibility too.
